Brett Cowell is the chairman of partners and lead partner in Cowell Clarke’s Commercial Transactions and Corporate practice groups. As one of the firm’s founding partners, he is recognised as both strategic and practical, with a focus on commercial outcomes. He has built his practice by guiding capable people to operate at their best both inside and outside of the firm.

Brett’s passion for science, IT and innovation has led to supporting corporate and business clients grow and protect their business interests. This has extended the firm’s reach into defence, manufacturing and agribusiness, nationally and internationally. He advises on transactions, mergers and acquisitions, capital raisings, debt and equity funding and joint ventures. Brett advises chairmen and senior executives on corporate strategic and governance matters. On behalf of clients, he deals with banks, private equity investors, venture capitalists and other investors, financiers, underwriters, the Australian Securities and Investments Commission and the Australian Securities Exchange. Brett also advises on intellectual property and information technology transactions and disputes, including trade mark and copyright matters and licensing and technology transfers.

Throughout his career, Brett’s senior management of the firm has enabled him to bring real experience when advising clients on corporate and business management and strategic planning. He continually invests in professional development, remaining current with leading legal, finance and leadership thinking. Brett regularly represents the firm in speaking engagements and authors articles for a range of publications. Brett is a non-executive director of a number of companies.
