As a registered nurse, David helps clients with excellent technical legal advice and also has a solid understanding of the health system and the work of clinicians within it.
This combination of experience in law and the health system has proved invaluable when working in a compensation law environment. Medical evidence proves critical in many compensation law cases and David is well placed to assess and explain this evidence to clients.
David has completed a Diploma in Nursing, Bachelor of Health Sciences, Graduate Diploma in Clinical Practice and a Bachelor of Laws with Honours.
David completed his Honours thesis on organ donation, which was published in the NSW Operating Theatre Nurses Association Journal and has also drafted papers along with other Carroll & O’Dea Lawyers staff for Nexus Lexus, an external legal publisher.
Prior to embarking on his legal career, David worked in hospitals in Tamworth, Sydney and London.
Following completion of his Graduate Diploma in Clinical Practice, David was awarded the Anne Carrodus Memorial Prize for excellence in clinical practice.
David is involved with his community. He has previously held the position of Secretary of the Toongabbie Legal Centre Executive Committee for two years.
David has been listed in Doyle’s Guide to the Australia Legal Profession as one of NSW leading plaintiff motor vehicle accident and injury compensation lawyers in 2015 along with being recognised as one of NSW leading medical negligence lawyers in both 2015 and 2016, for his expertise and ability in the area, as recognised by NSW defendant insurance solicitors.
“Being a trained registered nurse as well as a lawyer, means that I know what its like on the ward. This practical experience is invaluable when it comes to helping clients go through the experience of compensation claims.”
