John is a Managing Partner of Armstrong Legal and head of the Criminal Law Division. He was admitted to practice law in NSW in 1999 and prior to that had five years advocacy experience in the Local Court of NSW as a prosecutor. John is admitted to practice in the Supreme Courts of NSW and Victoria and the High Court of Australia, though he can appear in any jurisdiction as required.
Prior to joining Armstrong Legal, John was practicing interstate, conducting protracted prosecutions of corrupt police officers with a particular focus on drug squad officers. Before this, John was practicing law in NSW, assisting clients with criminal law issues that covered the field of criminal law offences, including major traffic offences, violence, dishonesty and sexual matters.
John has a wide range of experience, appearing in the following jurisdictions: the Local, District and Supreme Courts of NSW, the Guardianship, Nursing and Administrative Decisions Tribunals of NSW, the Companies Auditors and Liquidators Disciplinary Board (Cth), the Administrative Appeals Tribunal (Cth), the Federal Court of Australia and the Magistrates, Country and Supreme Courts of Victoria.
John has also experience in coercive investigations by the Australian Investments and Securities Commission, the NSW Crime Commission, the Australian Crime Commission and the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC).
