After a distinguished 20 year career as a legal academic at the Australian National University, Dr Juliet Behrens joined DDCS Lawyers as a Senior Associate. Juliet’s exceptional knowledge of every corner of the Family Law Act is unrivaled and her technical legal professional skills are unmatched.
As seen from her research background focusing on complex children’s matters, particularly those featuring relocation issues and family violence, Juliet’s passion for those issues has continued in her work at DDCS Lawyers advising and representing clients. Juliet has a diverse practice in all areas of family law, although her particular niche areas include cases featuring family violence issues, spousal maintenance, complex parenting matters and assisting couples in assisted conception contexts, such as non-commercial surrogacy arrangements.
Engaging and approachable, advice from Juliet means you receive a thorough and considered explanation of the law as it applies to your case. Juliet draws from her in depth knowledge of legislation, case law and the latest social science research involving family law issues.
As your lawyer, Juliet determinedly pursues your goals. She is not hesitant to litigate if your case requires it, but will consistently identify to you opportunities for consensual settlements at each stage of your matter.
