Kym is Partner and head of the Mills Oakley family law practice in Perth.  Kym has been accredited as a family law specialist since 2007, assisting clients located throughout Western Australia and overseas with all matters arising from separation at the end of marriage, de facto and same sex relationships.  Kym also provides advice about the protection of assets for clients entering into relationships. Kym promotes the resolution of disputes respectfully whilst managing the often complex and conflictual circumstances surrounding a relationship breakdown.  Where a negotiated agreement cannot be achieved, Kym is experienced in the preparation and presentation of matters for Family Court litigation, including property settlement matters, applications for specific orders relating to business operations, applications for interim financial support and the urgent preservation of assets. Kym has also represented third parties in Family Court proceedings. A property settlement should be concluded with consideration as to the most financially effective way to structure the division of assets.  Kym works with accountants and financial planners to maximise an outcome which is forward focussed.  Kym also acts for clients requiring representation to determine the living and other arrangements for children including the relocation of children interstate and overseas.  Kym has acted on Hague Convention international child abduction matters as well as developing a practice in Western Australian surrogacy law.
