Nathan is a Principal Lawyer with Anderson Fredericks Turner based in both the Sunshine Coast and Brisbane offices. He is an experienced criminal lawyer who prides himself on providing the highest levels of client service and representation. Since first qualifying as a Barrister in 2005, he has spent over a decade working as a criminal defence lawyer and prosecutor in the public and private sectors.
Nathan has appeared in hundreds of diverse hearings across many jurisdictions. He has advocated in sentence, breach, bail, appeal, committal, and pre-trial hearings in the Childrens, Magistrates, District and Supreme Courts of Queensland. He has prosecuted District Court jury trials and instructed senior barristers in more complex matters in the Supreme Court, including murder trials and Dangerous Prisoner Applications.
Nathan has also represented clients at Commissions of Inquiry, including the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse (2016); and the Grantham Floods Commission of Inquiry (2015).
After representing Queensland and Australia at numerous junior and senior levels in Rugby Union in the amateur era, he spent five years as a professional sportsman, playing rugby league and rugby union in Australia, England and Ireland. He also worked in various private sector roles in England and Ireland (investment banking & IT) before returning home to Brisbane in 2004 to focus on his legal career.
