Theresa grew up in regional NSW before moving to Canberra to undertake legal studies and commenced her legal career as a paralegal with Canberra Legal Group’s predecessor, Nicholl & Co, whilst studying.
Once she was admitted to practice, we realised we had to keep her and Theresa is now an Executive Director and part of the management team. Theresa has a dynamic and diverse practice portfolio and her strengths lie in litigation, dispute resolution, and estate planning.
As a litigator, Theresa is particularly interested in estate litigation such as testator’s family maintenance or family provision claims, capacity cases, and elder abuse.
Theresa's practice spans the ACT and NSW and she is an experienced practitioner in both of these jurisdictions with a goal of achieving timely and cost effective resolution. She applies the same principles to her commercial, building, and other civil disputes and has a strong record in assisting disputing parties to find early resolution by way of mediation or alternative dispute resolution.
As an estate planner, Theresa provides a “cradle-to-grave” all-services legal facility. An excellent listener, Theresa will ascertain your needs, and ensure that every contingency is planned for with a watertight Will and Enduring Power of Attorney. She can ensure that your loved ones are provided for in the best possible way, perhaps by a Family or Testamentary Trust. At the other end of life, Theresa can make the grieving process that little bit easier by ensuring that the administration of your estate is as seamless as possible. Throughout it all, she will make sure that you understand your options and the process.
Theresa has been an active member of the ACT legal community, having enjoyed past roles as Chair of the ACT Young Lawyers’ Committee and Winner of the ACT Golden Gavel. She has participated in the annual Law Week debate and the National Golden Gavel. She is currently completing a Masters Degree in Applied Law (Wills and Estates).
Theresa is also a mother of two gorgeous girls and the wife of a sheep grazier. When she is away from work and not occupied by her children on the family farm, she loves to cook, spend quality time with great friends, read a good book, or head to the coast for the weekend.
