Lisa Barca, Coleman Greig

Lisa Barca, Coleman Greig

Lisa Barca is a Principal Lawyer and Team Leader of Coleman Greig's Wills and Estate Planning team.

Professional and personable in her client interactions, Lisa consistently goes the extra mile in forming genuinely strong relationships with her clients.  Her experience has helped to develop a thorough understanding of the complexities often associated with the distribution of a person's estate, and allows her to combine her strong attention to detail with the sensitive approach often required in what can be an emotionally charged process.

Amongst other areas, Lisa is particularly competent with respect to:

  • Assisting clients with family provision claims;
  • Assisting with NSW Civil & Administrative Tribunal applications for the review of both enduring powers of attorney, and appointments of enduring guardians;
  • Assisting with both claims for, and objections to superannuation death benefits;
  • Drafting comprehensive estate plans for multinational companies;
  • Setting up Special Disability Trusts;
  • Assisting clients with the release of rights to Family Provision Claims.

Ambitious to add value to her client relationships wherever possible, Lisa frequently hosts in-house seminars on Wills and Estate Planning topics to Coleman Greig's commercial client organisations, and similarly visits clients at home in circumstances where they are unable to commute to one of Coleman Greig's offices.

In addition to her client-focused work, Lisa takes pride in her role within the firm's White Ribbon committee - which in 2019 was responsible for Coleman Greig becoming Australia's first law firm to receive White Ribbon Workplace Accreditation.  She is similarly involved in authoring articles for a range of Coleman Greig's legal publications, including the firm's Lifestyle and The Law Update and Accountants' Update, as well as a wide range of blogs.

Outside of her key role within Coleman Greig's Wills and Estate Planning team, Lisa takes part in two separate mentoring programs: Western Sydney University's Lucy Mentoring Program and the NSW Law Society's Graduate Mentoring Program, both of which see her take on the responsibility of providing mentorship to current university law students.

Lisa is a Full Member of STEP (Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners), a global professional association for practitioners who specialise in family inheritance and succession planning. STEP members help families plan for their futures, from drafting a Will to advising on issues concerning international families, protection of the vulnerable, family businesses, philanthropic giving and contested estate litigation. Full STEP members, like Lisa, are internationally recognised as experts in their field, with proven qualifications and experience.

Lisa is also a member of the CG Tech Committee, through which she plays a key role in Coleman Greig's commitment to improving processes of the firm's overall systems and procedures - especially within the Wills and Estate Planning team, through automation and technology.

A fluent Italian speaker, Lisa has the capacity to assist clients from the Italian community with their Wills and Estate Administration matters.

Away from work, she enjoys adding to her already impressive shoe collection, discovering new cultures through international travel, and catering to her inner-foodie by exploring Greater Sydney in the search of good food.
