Julia was admitted as a Legal Practitioner of the Supreme Court of the ACT after completing a bachelor of Arts in 2004 and a Bachelor of Laws in 2007 at the University of Newcastle, and a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice at the Australian National University. Julia is also admitted to the High Court of Australia.
Julia originally began her career in the Commonwealth Public Service which has provided her invaluable experience which she is able to use in her family law practice.
Julia has a particular interest in advocacy and mediation and has gained considerable experience in commercial litigation, building and construction matters and civil litigation. Julia now specialises in Family Law, including property matters, children’s matters, Domestic Violence and Personal Protection Orders and Care and Protection matters. Julia is an accredited Independent Children’s Lawyer representing the interests of children in circumstances where their parents may not be able to care for them.
Julia regularly appears in the Federal Circuit Court of Australia, Family Court, Children’s Court, ACAT and the Magistrates Court of the ACT as well as representing clients at mediation and Family Dispute Resolution Conferences.
Julia is a member of the Women’s Lawyers Association of the ACT and was President of the Association from October 2010 to October 2011. Julia is also a member of the Equalising Opportunities in the Law Committee of the ACT Law Society.
