Having recently been named one of the leading employment lawyers in Australia by the prestigious Doyle’s Guide, Luke began at Hall Payne Lawyers in 2001, leaving in 2008 to take up the position of Senior Legal Officer with the Queensland Nurses’ Union (QNU). In 2012 he returned to Hall Payne Lawyers and was appointed as Principal at the Firm.

Luke practises solely in Hall Payne Lawyers’ Industrial and Employment Law section where he regularly advises unions in the mining, electrical, construction, manufacturing, public sector and local government, as well as aviation and health professions, on Industrial Strategy and Industrial Relations. He also provides advice to employees regarding contractual entitlements and common law claims.

Luke’s particular interests are in Restraint of Trade and Professional Conduct matters. He has significant experience in assisting clients with the enforcement, and resisting the enforcement, of Restraint of Trade clauses, and he regularly advises nurses, doctors, lawyers and other health practitioners in relation to Registration and Professional Conduct matters involving the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and the decisions of Health Practitioner Boards.

He also advises clients in the group training area on matters regarding group training and apprenticeship concerns.
