Margaret Kaukas was admitted to legal practice in 1993 and since then has worked in a variety of areas of law, specialising in Workers Compensation, Work Health Safety and Employment and Industrial Law (including unfair dismissals, underpayment of wages, adverse action claims, discrimination/equal opportunity claims).
During her legal career Margaret has worked for a trade Union, both plaintiff and defendant law firms, and also managed the WorkCover Employee Advocate Unit for three years, representing injured workers and providing training to Unions on the workers compensation schemes and dispute resolution process.
Margaret provides straightforward and practical advice to her clients to enable them to achieve their legal goals in the most cost effective way possible. Her extensive experience representing workers, compensating authorities and employers makes her a highly effective negotiator and advocate.
Throughout her career Margaret has prepared and presented cases in the South Australian Workers Compensation Tribunal, Magistrates, District and Supreme Courts of South Australia, the Fair Work Commission, Industrial Relations Court of South Australia, Federal Court, Federal Circuit Court, Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission and the Equal Opportunity Commission of South Australia.
Margaret has presented papers about workers compensation and industrial law at various conferences, seminars and workshops, as well as providing formal training to institutional clients in relation to workers compensation, industrial and work health and safety law.
