Ruben is a Senior Associate in BLP’s Family Asset Protection team – part of the firm’s wider global Private Wealth group.
Ruben advises ultra-high net worth (UHNW) clients in complex, international and often high profile family cases. He specialises in resolving financial issues following relationship breakdown and, in particular, high value divorces. He has a particular interest and focus on cases involving offshore trusts and the variation of nuptial settlements. Many of his cases involve substantial business interests and corporate structures.
Most of Ruben’s work has an international dimension and he frequently advises on forum, jurisdictional and cross-border issues.
Ruben also advises UHNW individuals and families on asset protection. He has considerable experience of preparing pre and postnuptial agreements for internationally based clients with interests in numerous jurisdictions. He regularly advises family offices, trustees and other professional advisers on the structure and operation of asset holding vehicles to ensure wealth is preserved in the event of a divorce or family dispute.
He moved to Hong Kong in 2014 and, prior to that, practised in London for over six years with leading matrimonial law firms. His current practice is split between Hong Kong and London.
Ruben is one of only a handful of associates to have been recognised in the Legal 500 (London family law rankings) where he was described as being ‘incisive’.
