Shannon Bodeker has been working almost exclusively in family law in Western Australia since 1998.
Shannon established Bodekers Family Lawyers & Mediators in 2002. Shannon is the Firm’s Legal Practitioner Director. Shannon is experienced in all areas of family law and particularly in the areas of relocation, child custody and parenting arragements, property settlement and child support.
Shannon has been admitted as a lawyer to the Supreme Court of Western Australia and the High Court of Australia. Shannon is a nationally accredited mediator, arbitrator and collaborative lawyer.
Shannon’s qualifications include Bachelor of Laws (Hons), Diploma of Teaching (Dist), Bachelor of Education (Dist) and Post Graduate Health Promotion (Dist).
Shannon’s special interest is child relocation and she completed her Honours thesis “The Freedom of Movement of Residential Parents (and others) subsequent to the Family Law Reform Act 1995 (Cth)” in this area.
Shannon has acted as an Independent Children’s Lawyer in the Family Court of Western Australia and the Children’s Court of Western Australia. She has also worked as a Senior Case Officer with the Child Support Agency. Shannon is actively involved in legal issues surrounding same sex relationships and has worked in same sex family law matters for close to 20 years.
Shannon regularly undertakes advanced mediation and negotiation training through institutions such as Harvard University.
