Ms Stacey Carter is the principal of Carter & Co Lawyers and is admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of South Australia and the High Court of Australia. Ms Carter embarked upon a Bachelor of Laws and Legal Practice, in conjunction with a Bachelor of Arts (double major), at Flinders University in South Australia. In 2005, as a part of enhancing her legal knowledge and training, Ms Carter travelled to the United States of America and furthered her studies and expertise at the University of California.

After returning to Australia, Ms Carter was based in Canberra working for the Federal Government in highly litigious areas relating to immigration law, criminal law and national security. Ms Carter was heavily involved in providing detailed and complex advice on high profile litigation being conducted in the Administrative Appeals Tribunal [AAT], Federal Court of Australia [FCA], and High Court of Australia [HCA].

Ms Carter completed her Master’s Degree in Law in 2008 and was acknowledged as an award winning law student for her work in International Criminal Law and Human Rights. Throughout her Master’s Degree, Ms Carter specialised in international criminal law, with much of her research focusing on international organised crime, drug trafficking, sexual slavery, terrorism, human trafficking and the exploitation of children.

Stacey Carter has now established Carter & Co Lawyers as a specialised criminal defence firm in Adelaide. Having previously worked for two of Adelaide's leading criminal law firms, she has now chosen to specialise in defence work. Ms Carter has been instructed to act on a number of high profile matters, including cases involving murder, rape, drug trafficking, fraud and many violent offences.

Ms Carter previously taught at the Law School at Uni SA and is also an appointed member of the Criminal Law Committee at the Law Society of South Australia.
