Stuart Barr, Norman Waterhouse

Stuart has more than 25 years experience as a family lawyer. He is an accredited family law specialist in South Australia, Victoria and the Northern Territory.
He also has over 20 years experience as a mediator. He is NMAS accredited and has successfully conducted hundreds of mediations as an accredited Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner.
Stuart has qualifications in law and business management. In the course of his career, he has lectured in business law and served on the Board of Relationships Australia (NT).
He has decided appeals in child support cases as a member of the Social Security Appeals Tribunal and is regularly appointed to represent the interests of children in complex parenting cases. He is a former contributing author to LexisNexis Family Law Forms and Precedents.

Before establishing his own specialist family law firm in 2006, Stuart led the family law sections of commercial law firms in Melbourne and Darwin, and the family and civil law section of the Northern Territory Legal Aid Commission. In January 2014, Stuart joined Norman Waterhouse, where he practises as Special Counsel.

Stuart is a Fellow of the International Academy of Family Lawyers. He has expertise in all aspects of family law, with a particular interest in difficult or complex negotiations and international disputes.
