Phuong Nguyen, Anderson Frederick Turner

Phuong Nguyen is a solicitor at the Anderson Fredericks Turner, having graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Arts (majoring in History and International Relations) and Bachelor of Laws (Honours). She completed her practical legal training at the College of Law and was admitted as a solicitor in the Supreme Court of Queensland in 2016.

As a solicitor, Phuong practises both in employment law and criminal law. Phuong is passionate about workplace rights and prides herself on providing effective representation to her clients. She has appeared before the Magistrates Court and District Court.

Phuong developed a strong interest in criminal law through her undergraduate studies, particularly through her participation in Criminal Law Matters Clinic which ran at Caxton Legal Centre. In this role, Phuong assisted in a supervised student clerk capacity. She was tasked with writing outline of appeal arguments, drafting client letters, sitting in on client interviews and preparing statements for duty lawyers.

Phuong also participated in the Magistrates Work Experience program run by the Justice and the Law Society of University of Queensland in which she shadowed Chief Magistrate Judge Butler AM SC (as his Honour then was) for a semester, where she experienced first-hand how sentencing pleas and bail applications were carried out in the court.
