Allison Caputo commenced her career in Family Law in 2000 working as a Judges Associate in the Family Court of Australia (as it then was) in Sydney before moving to practice after her admission as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of NSW in 2006. Initially taking up a role with The Legal Aid Commission of NSW, Allison moved to Queensland in 2010 and took up full time roles in private practice initially in a top tier boutique family law firm on the Gold Coast before relocating to Brisbane to a top tier national family law firm. Moving from private practice in 2021, Allison was appointed Practice Director at Women’s Legal Service Queensland before taking up a role as a Judicial Registrar in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia in 2023.
Allison obtained Specialist Accreditation (Family Law) from the Queensland Law Society in 2015 and was awarded a Master of Applied Laws (Family) from the College of Law in 2017.
Allison was voted onto the Queensland Law Society Council and served as a Councillor for three years, between 2020 and 2023.
Recently, Allison has returned to private practice at Michael Lynch Family Lawyers as Head of Family Law and Dispute Resolution to grow the firm’s mediation practice, however she is also available to assist clients of the firm to resolve their family law disputes with a renewed focus on mediated outcomes.
Having spent many years working within the Family Court at the commencement of her legal career and more recently in her role as Judicial Registrar, Allison has an excellent understanding of the emotional and financial costs to parties in engaging in litigation and works with clients to focus on the safety of children and parties, reduction of conflict and, where possible, resolving matters through a mediated outcome.
Allison has facilitated and settled many court-ordered dispute resolution events, both, in parenting and property matters, in her role as Judicial Registrar, and is available to conduct private mediations at Michael Lynch Family Lawyers. Both, as a skilled family lawyer and an accredited mediator, Allison consistently guides her clients toward practical, lasting resolutions, even in the most complex matters.
