Anthony has practiced in Criminal Law as a Defence lawyer since 1991. He has been a Law Institute of Victoria Accredited Specialist in Criminal Law since 1996 and has maintained his accreditation since this time. He was a member of the Criminal Law Advisory Committee of the Law Institute of Victoria for nine years to 2013 and has a strong background in rehabilitation and the law. Anthony has previous experience in the establishment of out-patient facilities for drug and alcohol rehabilitation and was for a number of years a member of the Odyssey House Board. He is a Director and Senior Lawyer within the Slades & Parsons team.
Anthony has appeared in the Magistrates, County and Supreme Courts and regularly conducts Plea Hearings on behalf of his clients. He has been involved in the preparation of many significant trials including matters involving white collar crime, drug offences, armed robbery, sex slavery and terrorism cases. He has developed significant experience in the defence of clients charged with sex offences and associated internet matters. Anthony is experienced in working with barristers and other professionals such as DNA experts, psychiatrists, doctors, accountants and others who may be called upon in the defence of a client’s matter. He has extensive experience in the assessment and preparation of Appeals to both the County and Supreme Court of Victoria and to the High Court of Australia and he has appeared in Western Australia and NSW courts.
