Ashleigh joined our firm in 2007 and is a Director in our Separation, Family, Relationships Law group. She is a NSW Law Society Accredited Specialist in Family Law.
She practices primarily in family law property and parenting matters. She has been included on the Doyles Guide of Leading Family and Divorce Lawyers – Newcastle, Hunter Valley & Central Coast in 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022.
Together with colleague Rose Laffan, Ashleigh lectures at the University of Newcastle in the Family Law Practice course.
Ashleigh is on the board of Directors of Business Hunter, and in 2016 was recognised as a Finalist in the Hunter Business Chamber’s Young Executive of the Year Award. She is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors Course.
Ashleigh is a Steering Committee member of the Greater Newcastle Family Law Pathways Network- which is an interagency of family service providers in the Newcastle and Hunter region- and has previously chaired the Network. She has been an active member of the Network since 2007. Her involvement in this Network keeps Ashleigh up to date with the workings of other post- separation services- both private and government organisations- with whom separating parents come into contact.
Ashleigh is the President of the Hunter Valley Family Law Practitioners’ Association. She is also an active committee member of the Newcastle Chapter of Women Lawyers NSW.
Ashleigh is a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, Family Law Section of the Law Council of Australia, the Law Society of New South Wales, the Newcastle Law Society and the Hunter Young Professionals Network; and provides assistance to Newcastle District Softball Association Judiciary.
Ashleigh is also experienced in Apprehended Violence Order (AVO) proceedings and criminal and traffic matters in the local court.
Ashleigh has strong ties to Newcastle having completed her Law degree and practical legal training at the University of Newcastle in 2006, and is a former Youth Mayor of the city, a position she held for seven years. In addition to her legal qualifications Ashleigh also holds a Bachelor of Communication, with a major in public relations, from the University of Newcastle.
She is admitted to the Supreme Court of New South Wales and is entered on the High Court register of practitioners and is entitled to appear in all federal courts.
