Bernie Balmer has over 30 years’ experience in criminal law and motor traffic matters across Australia. During this time Bernie has regularly appeared in metropolitan and regional matters before the Magistrates’ Court, County Court and Supreme Court of Victoria and briefed counsel and appeared before the High Court of Australia in a number of leading cases. Bernie has gained expertise in every area of criminal law from driving matters through to homicide. Hailing from Broadford (regional Victoria), Bernie moved to Melbourne to become a Clerk of Courts, after which he later attended the University of Melbourne to complete a Bachelor of Law. A born fighter (in the ring and in the court room), Bernie holds an Australian University Heavy Weight title and an established reputation as a leading criminal defence lawyer. To this day he continues to pursue an active interest in boxing, since 1996 Bernie has been a board member of Professional Boxing and Combat Sports and holding two positions on the World Boxing Council – Chairman of Professional Boxing and Combat Sports Victoria.
