I attended Southern Cross University and attained a Bachelor of Business degree (majoring in accounting) in the early 1990s.
I worked as an accountant for a small manufacturing business in Byron Bay and subsequently a large multi-national corporation in Sydney whilst completing my Bachelor of Laws (Graduate) degree at the University of New England.
After completing my Bachelor of Laws degree, I commenced employment as the managing law clerk of a mid-sized law firm in Canberra and completed my Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice at the Australian National University.
In 1998, Dan I was admitted to practice as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of the ACT and the High Court of Australia and subsequently, the Supreme Court of New South Wales and the Supreme Court of Queensland.
From 1998 to 2018, I practiced as a solicitor partner and director of Capital Lawyers.
Under my leadership, Capital Lawyers grew from a small legal practice to a national law firm, servicing many thousands of clients in a variety of legal areas. I worked as the Managing Partner / Director of Capital Lawyers for over 20 years, gaining valuable experience in both operating a modern business and practicing law in many legal and geographic areas.
As the managing director of Capital Lawyers, I practiced extensively in litigation, particularly, personal injury litigation, commercial litigation, insurance litigation, property litigation, administrative law, criminal law and estate litigation.
In 2006, I relocated to the North Coast of New South Wales and continued to practice law in the ACT, NSW and Queensland.
In 2018, I passed the Queensland Bar exams, and became a Nationally accredited mediator.
In 2019, I completed the Queensland Bar Practice Course and commenced practice as a Barrister Reader at Inns of Court Gold Coast.
My accreditation as a mediator is the culmination of many years' mediation practice as a solicitor, in which time I have become a passionate advocate of alternative dispute resolution and mediation.
I have attended in excess of 300 mediations as a solicitor.
I have over 20 years' experience in assisting people to find innovative and practical solutions to a myriad of legal problems and disputes and I bring an open mind and the necessary skills and demeanour to achieve the best possible outcomes for the parties to a dispute, irrespective of the issues involved.
I strive to be professional, understanding and very dedicated, whilst maintaining unwavering ethical standards.
