Dane Thornburgh is a Senior Associate at Quinn Law Group with more than 23 years of experience in litigation, dispute resolution and courtroom advocacy. Having practised both as a Solicitor and as a Barrister, he offers clients the strategic insight of an experienced advocate together with the practical, commercial approach of an accomplished litigation solicitor.
Dane's practice is focused on commercial litigation and complex dispute resolution. He regularly advises and represents individuals, companies, directors and business owners in a broad range of commercial disputes, including breach of contract claims, shareholder and partnership disputes, director and fiduciary duty claims, debt recovery and enforcement proceedings, property and construction disputes, Australian Consumer Law matters, professional negligence claims, injunction applications and Supreme and District Court litigation.
Dane commenced his legal career in 2003 with the Brisbane firm Bennett & Philp before being called to the Bar in 2005. As a Barrister, he developed a strong reputation as an effective courtroom advocate, appearing in complex commercial and civil litigation throughout Queensland and New South Wales.
Recognising his litigation expertise, Dane was recruited in 2009 to join the largest offshore law firm in Vanuatu as a Senior Associate in its litigation department. In 2012 he established his own offshore litigation practice, serving as Managing Partner and acting in substantial commercial, insolvency and cross-border disputes before returning to Australia in 2019.
Throughout his career, Dane has acted for and advised a diverse range of commercial clients, including multinational corporations, public companies, privately owned businesses, insurers and individuals. His experience includes matters involving organisations such as Facebook, Samsung, KFC, The Star and SpaceX, together with numerous Australian and international law firms.
Dane has appeared in reported commercial litigation decisions since 2006 and Court of Appeal insurance law decisions since 2005.
