Diane Elston, Younes + Espiner

Diane is an experienced lawyer who has devoted her career to criminal defence. Throughout her career, Diane has demonstrated herself to be an impressive solicitor advocate. She is highly motivated to achieve the best outcome for her clients. Diane is dedicated to supporting her clients at every stage of their proceedings by preparing in advance and keeping open communication with her clients.

Diane maintains a substantial trial practice and works closely with many of Sydney’s most reputable barristers on a range of matters including sexual assault, terrorism, fraud, large drug importations and supply matters, robberies and very serious assaults. Her thorough preparation and high-level legal analysis makes her an invaluable member of any legal team.

In addition to her busy trial practice, Diane appears in the Local, District and Supreme Courts and has developed strong advocacy skills. She frequently appears in bail applications, sentence proceedings, defended hearings, section 32 applications and all types of traffic matters. Diane often provides advice in respect of working with children checks, firearms and security licences and the Child Protection Register. She appears for clients in quasi-criminal matters including appeals to the NSW Civil and Administrative Appeals Tribunal (NCAT) and for clients appearing before the NSW Mental Health Review Tribunal.

Diane is well respected within the legal profession and is a member of the Legal Aid Summary and Indictable Criminal Law Panels. Diane volunteers for the Intellectual Disability Rights Service to assist intellectually disabled people who are in police custody, and is a guest lecturer at various Traffic Offender Intervention Programs (TOIP). She continues her tertiary development and is undertaking a Masters of Criminology at the University of Sydney, which she has focused on anti-terrorism law, sexual offences and sentencing.

She is only a phone call away from providing the advice, support and assistance that you or your family need during a time of crisis.
