James Hunter, Slater and Gordon

As a Senior Associate for Slater and Gordon Lawyers Brisbane, I lead our Superannuation and Disability Insurance Claims legal team in Queensland.

In the past I was responsible for the administration of consumer claims for over 500 clients through the Commonwealth Bank’s Open Advice Review Program, a scheme created to review poor financial planning advice provided to CBA customers and compensate them for investment losses.

Daily, I advise our clients in matters concerning

  • Complex superannuation insurance litigation claims;
  • Disability claims (total and permanent disability, income protection, trauma);
  • Non-disclosure and insurance fraud cases
  • Superannuation disputes.

Previously I have represented clients in personal injuries, financial services negligence, and Superannuation and Disability Insurance matters. I am passionate about running claims against superannuation and disability insurers who are delaying claims unnecessarily, denying claims which they ought to accept and defending decisions that are not in the claimant’s favour.

I am excited to work for one of Australia’s leading consumer rights and compensation law firms. I leverage the power of the nationwide Slater and Gordon network and our rich history of supporting clients in the Disability & Superannuation Insurance space to deliver outstanding results for my clients.

When pursuing the legal rights of injured persons, some law firms overlook the further entitlements available under the TPD insurance provided by their superannuation fund. At Slater and Gordon, it is my role to ensure every client receives the full scope of the benefits available to them.
