Jessica is one of those people who is brilliant at everything she does. She has a PhD in Law and wrote her thesis on the legislation aimed at protecting victims of violent crimes in Court proceedings in the ACT. Having finished everything there is to do in the world of academia, she joined us and quickly became one of Canberra’s leading family lawyers, particularly in dealing with domestic violence and complex parenting issues. She is passionate about collaborative law and advocates it as the best process for her clients.
In 2014 Jess won the ACT Young Lawyer of the year award. This came as no surprise to us because we already knew how amazing she was. She won the award over more than 20 other nominees, and was recognised for not only her professional achievements, but also her extensive community involvement. Jessica was nominated for the work she does with FGD, as well as the work she does in the community. She is a member of the Marymead NexGen Committee and regularly helps out at the Women’s Legal Centre.
Jessica is widely respected by her colleagues and peers, and her legal abilities and care are invaluable for her clients. She has developed a busy and diverse practice and runs cases in many areas. She has a passion for cases where victims of violence abuse need strong representation and need to be heard. She works hard to protect the rights of women who may not have the strength or ability to do so for themselves.
real person
Jessica loves going to the gym. You’ll find her there at 6am most mornings. She also spends a fair bit of time looking at cute baby animals on Pinterest. From time to time this has caused her wifi to crash! In the snow season, you’ll often find Jessica at Perisher working on her snowboarding skills. Once a year she cleans her car, which makes her particularly happy for the following week (until it is untidy again). She is invariably the favourite to take out best dressed at any costume party.
