Joe Buckley, Farrar Gesini Dunn

modern lawyer

After joining us in 2016, Joe has quickly demonstrated his love for the Law. When all his friends (in his under 9’s cricket team) talked about their aspirations to become the next “Robocop” or Allan Border, Joe told them that he wanted to be a lawyer when he was older! He has practised family law exclusively for most of his career in either leading commercial or specialist family law firms. Joe’s experience is broad and ranges from parenting cases involving Customary Law in the Northern Territory to complex international property disputes. When Joe is being totally honest, he will admit that he enjoys acting as a robust advocate for his clients when they need him in court, but he will also be the first to point out that families do not belong in a court room.  After many years in court as a Judge’s Associate and legal practitioner, Joe believes empowering people to make their own decisions regarding the future is the way to go.

real person

Joe genuinely enjoys helping people and has travelled the country while doing so. He has lived in Sydney, Darwin and Melbourne.  Joe feels passionate about social justice and enjoys working at his local community legal centre. Another thing about Joe; he loves playing and talking sport (any sport really).
