Joe Wicking is a Director of Bamberry Lawyers and a Queensland Law Society Accredited Specialist in Criminal Law. He practises exclusively in criminal defence, serious traffic matters and investigative proceedings, acting for clients in complex and high-pressure matters across Queensland.
Joe has extensive experience across indictable criminal law, including murder, manslaughter, drug trafficking, corruption, fraud and financial crime, sexual offences, serious violence and driving offences involving significant criminal or licence consequences. He appears regularly in the Magistrates Court, District Court and Supreme Court, and acts in contested hearings, bail applications, sentence proceedings, trials, appeals and related applications.
Joe also represents clients in investigative and coercive proceedings, including matters involving the Crime and Corruption Commission and the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission. His experience extends to regulatory and workplace health and safety matters, including investigations arising from serious workplace incidents and fatalities.
His practice is defined by early case control, disciplined decision-making and clear advice. Joe focuses on identifying the real issue early, testing the evidence, and developing a structured position before important decisions are made. Joe acts throughout Queensland, including Brisbane, the Gold Coast and regional and rural courts. He is regularly instructed in matters requiring careful preparation, strategic judgment and controlled advocacy.
He holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of International Business from Griffith University. He also contributes to the profession through the supervision and development of junior lawyers and by presenting to other criminal lawyers at continuing professional development seminars.
