Kim is primarily involved in resolving complex commercial Family Law matters.
Kim is also rated as one of the Preeminent Family Law Barristers in Western Australia and as one of the Recommended Leading Family Law Mediators in Western Australia in 2018.
Kim is nationally ranked by Doyles Guide, as a Leading Family Law Senior Counsel in Australia, 2019.
Kim is currently on the Senior Advisors Panel of the Law Society of Western Australia. This is a panel of experienced practitioners who are available to assist other members of the profession with conduct and ethical issues on a confidential and gratuitous basis.
Kim graduated from the University of Western Australia in 1972. He was admitted to practice in Western Australia in 1974 and appointed Senior Counsel on 24 September 2001. Kim has been practising Family Law for over 40 years and became an Accredited Family Law Specialist in 1992.
Kim is an approved Arbitrator and is available to receive instructions to conduct Arbitrations.
Kim is a Nationally Accredited Mediator (AIFLAM) and is available to receive instructions to conduct Mediations.
He currently sits on the Legal Practice Board and the Legal Profession Complaints Committee. He is also a Member of the International Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers.
Previously Kim held a number of other positions including President from 1991 to 1993 of the Family Law Practitioners’ Association of WA and Chair of the Organising Committee of the Fifth National Family Law Conference.
He has served on the Executive of the Family Law Section of the Law Council of Australia from July 2000 to 2005 and has given numerous seminar papers to professional bodies for Family Lawyers including the Family Law Practitioners’ Association.
Kim now practices as in-house Senior Counsel for Kim Wilson & Co and is also briefed to appear as Senior Counsel by other Family Law firms.
In his spare time, Kim follows the Eagles, attempts to maintain some level of fitness by exercising with his family and dog. He enjoys travel, restaurants and good wines.
