Until 2015 I was the partner heading up Norton Rose Australia’s Perth planning and environment practice. Prior to that I was a partner at a well known specialist boutique planning, environment and local government law firm where I was for almost ten years.
I regularly appear as an advocate, conducting appeals in the State Administrative Tribunal, as well as compensation trials in the Supreme Court and challenges to administrative decisions by way of prerogative writ in the Supreme Court, Court of Appeal and High Court.
As a natural complement to my planning practice, I have a high profile as one of Western Australia’s leading lawyers in the field of land compensation, planning reservation and other forms of land blight attracting compensation.
Besides having been an inaugural member and Ministerial appointment to the Contaminated Sites Committee for 10 years which has given me wide experience in contamination issues, I also sit on Law Society committees and, in that capacity, regularly prepare participate in the preparation of submissions to the Attorney General and others in relation to proposed draft legislation and other substantive issues in my field.
I have also successfully argued a number of cases in the Supreme Court, High Court, Arbitration and in the State Administrative Tribunal. My particular areas of expertise are: planning law, heritage law, environmental law and land compensation law.
