As founding director of Keystone Lawyers, Lou commenced his legal career in 1995 and is now an industry recognised specialist in Construction, Mining and Infrastructure Law. He holds a Bachelor of Construction Management (Building) and has previously worked as a projects officer in a large building company. Lou’s background allows him to quickly understand the needs of clients involved in projects and offer sound and effective legal advice.
Lou’s experience includes advising on venture structuring, partnership agreements, engineering procurement and construction agreements, mining infrastructure and equipment supply agreements, asset sale, mergers and acquisitions. He has advised clients in construction projects varying in value from $1million to $700 million undertaking work around Australia, New Zealand, South East Asia and China. Lou is also a NSW Law Society Accredited Specialist in Commercial Litigation and has significant experience in dispute resolution including appearing in the Federal, Supreme, District and Local Courts. He is admitted to the High Court of Australia and is also an adjudicator under the Building and Construction Industry Security of Payment Act. Lou has substantial experience in advising on payment disputes and adjudication in NSW, Victoria and Queensland.
In addition to his legal experience and knowledge, Lou is a member of the Law Society of NSW and Master Builders Association of Australia.
He has sat as a board member and company secretary of three companies supplying mining equipment to the Australian market and advises on Corporate Governance and Compliance. He is a regular speaker to industry groups on contracts, risk minimisation and asset protection. Lou is driven by his passion for people and seeing clients succeed in their business.
