Paul has been admitted as a solicitor for over 18 years and has practiced exclusively in criminal law both as a prosecutor and defence lawyer. He was admitted as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland in 1997 after completing a Bachelor of Arts at Griffith University in Brisbane and a Bachelor of Laws Degree at Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane. Paul was employed from 1996 until 2008 by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions in various roles, ultimately being one of only three people to hold the position of Solicitor Advocate within that Office. Paul commenced employment in private practice in 2008, before moving to Cairns and the opportunity of his own practice as Principal of Richardson & Associates Solicitors.
In his career, Paul has appeared as Solicitor Advocate in matters before the Magistrates Court; Children’s Court; District Court; Children’s Court of Queensland and Supreme Court. Paul has also instructed Counsel in trials in all jurisdictions, including Murder and major Drug charges as well as matters before the Queensland Court of Appeal. He has also appeared in matters before the Australian Crime Commission and the Crime and Misconduct Commission.
Paul has successfully managed a large number of high profile cases. This has involved helping clients manage the stress of dealing with media attention their case has generated.
