Rachel Schutze, Shine Lawyers
“I believe that the work we do involves, in every aspect, standing up for the rights of everyday people. In doing our job well we empower our clients and help them to stand up for themselves.”
As Head of Personal Injury Victoria at Shine Lawyers, I lead our teams of claims experts in achieving justice for our clients. I was admitted to practice in 1999, and after more than 25 years it remains a genuine privilege to act for people bringing WorkCover, TAC and public liability claims. People come to me at some of the hardest moments of their lives, and being trusted to help them through it is not something I take for granted.
Across my career I’ve achieved significant financial outcomes for clients injured at work, on the road, in public places and in general insurance claims. That experience — together with a focus on the outcomes that matter most to each client — has seen me recognised by the independent Doyles Guide every year since 2018, most recently as a Leading Work Injury Compensation Lawyer (Plaintiff) – Victoria in 2026. I’m also one of few Victorian practitioners recognised for expertise across multiple areas of compensation law, including public liability.
I hold a Bachelor of Laws from Monash University and a Master of Laws from the University of Melbourne, and I’m admitted to practice in Victoria, New South Wales and the High Court of Australia. I’m a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
