Sam has worked in the tax profession since 1999 as a Chartered Accountant ("CA"), Lawyer, Strategic Adviser and in Tax Education.
His experience ranges from small and boutique advisory and law firms, to the ‘Big 4’ consulting firms.
Sam has been assisting businesses and families with tax matters since 1999 and began providing services to other advisors in 2005. He provided tax education around Australia on a full-time basis from 2007 to 2016 where his clients included the Australian Taxation Office ("ATO"), the Australian Government Solicitor ("AGS") and the Australian Society of Certified Practising Accountants ("ASCPA").
His client base now comprises mostly of other professional advisors (Accountants, Lawyers, Financial Planners, Property Agents and other Trusted Advisors), who refer complex and novel matters to Sam for his expertise and guidance, including:
- ATO reviews, audits, objections and rulings (and similar interactions with other tax and revenue authorities such as Revenue NSW and other State Revenue Offices)
- business structuring and and family/business succession
- transaction advice and strategic guidance
- property taxes (including GST, duty and income tax/CGT)
- project structures and investment structuring for multiple investor and capital types
- estate planning and trust law
Sam also still engages in education and advocacy for the CA member body 'Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand' ("CAANZ") and The Tax Institute of Australia ("TTI").
