Editorial Commentary – NSW Property, 2014

Market Overview

As one of Australia’s more active property markets at present the NSW property legal market has fared better than many other states however it’s also possibly Australia’s most competitive property legal services market.

Firms have been focused their attention principally towards commercial acquisitions and disposals, upgrades of retail and commercial properties as well as much of the middle range of the market being heavily engaged on CBD and near-CBD high-density residential development.

The traditionally stronger practices of Clayton Utz and King & Wood Mallesons continue to dominate however are joined in our first tier by Corrs Chambers Westgarth and Herbert Smith Freehills.  The impacts of potential personnel movement within these two firms is yet to be able to be accurately determined however does have the potential to alter next year’s rankings.
