Zac is a Senior Associate at Aitken Whyte Lawyers.
Zac was admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland in 2018. He commenced working in the legal industry in 2013 when he clerked for a barrister who specialises in criminal and regulatory matters.
Zac’s practice experience is broad but is rooted in the criminal and regulatory spheres. Zac regularly appears in Court’s throughout Queensland on behalf of clients facing charges ranging from drink driving to serious money laundering and drug trafficking. Zac has assisted clients charged with offences against the Commonwealth, including offences of money laundering and the importation of drugs into Australia; and has previously assisted clients before Commissions of enquiry, notably the Trade Union Royal Commission.
Zac is passionate about the regulatory space and has previous experience as an investigator with the Queensland Legal Services Commission. This places Zac in the unique position of being able to leverage this experience to provide strong outcomes for clients facing investigations by the Queensland legal services regulator. Zac also regularly assists companies and individuals in relation to investigations or prosecutions brought by regulators. Some examples include:
- Investigations and prosecutions brought by the Queensland Work Heath and Safety Regulator against employees, directors and companies;
- Investigations by the Queensland Crime and Corruption Commission; and
- Discipline proceedings brought by Chartered Practising Accountants Australia.
Zac believes that communication with his clients is key, and his down-to-earth communication style and lack of ego ensures that he can establish strong connections with his clients and their families. He believes in explaining complex legal matters in easy-to-understand language and keeps his client’s interests as his primary focus.
