HWL Ebsworth Lawyers has announced that Shahriar Mofakhami has joined the firm’s Commercial team in Melbourne as a partner.
Mofakhami joined HWL Ebsworth from Greenfields, a Melbourne-based, boutique firm, where he advised on acquisitions and divestitures, securities and financial services law, taxation, corporate governance and risk management. Mofakhami commenced his career at Mallesons Stephen Jaques and worked for a number of years in that firm’s corporate and taxation groups.
Mofakhami’s general commercial expertise is complemented by his extensive background advising international and domestic companies and financial institutions, including private equity firms and hedge funds, in the agribusiness and related sectors on a wide range of corporate, commercial and financing transactions, foreign investment, projects, restructures and regulation.
Mofakhami’s particular expertise in taxation and structured financial products saw him appointed as a member of the Expert Panel to the Australian Government’s Board of Taxation reviewing the taxation of Islamic finance transactions in Australia. He is also recognised in the Chambers & Partners Guide to the World’s Leading Lawyers and the Asia Pacific Legal 500.
Shahriar has been joined in moving to HWL Ebsworth by Senior Associate, Amit Jois.
